OUR PROJETS
The school "La Maison Des Enfants Donatin" is our first project, our starting point. That's why we are constantly planning new projects within the school in order to make it a success.
In the long term, we would like to be able to open new Montessori schools / training centers around the world, giving many more children access to learning and spreading knowledge around the globe.
SPONSORSHIP
When creating places that promote knowledge such as our schools there is a cost; such as equipment, maintanence, teacher training. Because of these costs we are unable to offer free tuition to our school. Although, we still maintain a much cheaper price then in most other countries. Each parent pays a small fee for their child to go to school. These payments help us provide lunch and transportation for the children (most live far away from school, so school bus is necessary).
Unfortunately some parents can't afford for all these expenses, and the orphanage we partner with can not send all its children by paying for each one of them. This is why we are looking for sponsors for the children who are most in need. These sponsors would pay for their schooling and / or canteen and / or transport (for those who need it). As a sponsor you are informed, quarterly, on how the child you sponsored is doing in school, you’ll also be able to communicate with the child, and this child gets to enjoy a good schooling and be nurtured.
CONSTRUCTION
In the short term, the school needs to build a roof to replace the existing metal sheet.
In the long run, we would like to install solar panels it would allow us to save on electricity as well a being more sustainable. We would also like to build a training center where we can train new educators and develop this method of teaching across the country.
Additionally, we are hoping to add locks on some of the classroom doors in order to keep the children safe.
MONTESSORI FROM ELEMENTARY TO MIDDLE SCHOOL
Currently, we have been able to develop our school only until the end of elementary school.. The extra cost of running a middle school has kept us from developing one, but that's part of our long-term plans.
TRANSPORTATION
A large part of the children attending Donatin's Children's Home live far away, so we’ve had to set up a shuttle to take them to school, as the path is not walkable. Our hope is to be able to continually set up more routes and reaching more children.
OPENING A TRAINING CENTER
Maria Montessori has created this teaching method with a vision for the future of society, these strategies prove to be particularly interesting in a developing country like Benin and it has been proven there for a few years. That's why we want to create a Montessori Educator Training Center to expand this pedagogy throughout the country.
